(BROWNSVILLE) – The magic number for Donna High to clinch a playoff spot in the 2016 Class 5A Volleyball Playoffs has been dwindled down to one.
The Bravettes improved to 7-4 in district play thanks to a three-set sweep over Brownsville Porter on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Donna High sits in the third spot in 32-5A and holds a three-game lead over Donna North and Brownsville Lopez with three regular season games to go.
Donna High can seal the deal this coming Tuesday night as they face their cross town rival Donna North with game time set for 7 p.m at Donna High School.
Bravettes head volleyball coach Cindy Viesca said she was very pleased with the way her team played on the road.
“The Bravettes came out to Brownsville and played really well against Porter on Saturday,” said Viesca. “The girls played with a lot of energy and determination to win the match in three straight sets.”
“Coming down to the end of the regular season, the girls understand the importance of playing well and came out and did just that on the road.”
