(BROWNSVILLE) – Don’t look now, but here come the Donna Redskins.
After starting the district campaign at 0-3, the Redskins have gotten back on track as they have won two straight contests and are back in the thick of the playoff race.
Donna High picked up huge wins over Brownsville Porter and Donna North and can add another one to their record as they will take on Pace this Friday night at Sams Stadium.
As of late, the Redskins have been playing inspired ball over the past two weeks and have definitely had to overcome a lot.
“These kids have been through a lot and I feel really bad for them,” said Leal. “But they keep on fighting through everything and I am really proud of their effort as of late.”
One of the biggest things factors for Donna’s stellar play over these past two weeks has been their strong defensive play. Against Porter and Donna North, the Redskins defense held both offenses to a combined 12 points.
Besides the fact that they held both teams to minimal points, the defense held Donna North completely in check by stopping them on each possession in the first half.
From the looks of things, Donna High’s defense should once again have a solid performance as they face a Pace team that ranks last in overall offense.
The Vikings were completely held in check by Edcouch-Elsa this past weekend as they could only muster up seven points in the loss.
However, they do enter this game at 2-3 as well and can also keep their hopes alive with a win.
Donna High would love nothing more than to keep their momentum going and want to prove that they can definitely be a playoff contender. A win over Pace can definitely help their cause.
