(DONNA) – The Donna Bravettes showed a strong defensive and offensive presence on Thursday afternoon.
Donna High’s defense completely smothered Sharyland Pioneer in the first half as they held them to a mere nine points and as a result, led them to a 53-28 win on day one of the Donna Dreamcatcher Tournament.
Along with their stellar defensive play, the Bravettes offense had an explosive second and third quarter as they scored a combined 42 points.
“I thought we came out very strong on defense in the first half,” said Donna High head girls coach Kevin Kromer. “We were rotating better on our half-court defense and I think we kind of shook them up due to our full-court pressure as well.”
“I was very pleased with the way we were moving to the basketball on the pass and our offense was a lot more structured today than it has been. Overall I saw a lot of improvement today.”
The Bravettes resume play tomorrow as they will face Juan Diego Academy in their second pool play game of the tournament with game time set for 11 a.m.
