(DONNA) – Through the entire non-district campaign, Donna High head boys basketball coach Manuel Epperson wants his team to gain one big thing.
“Experience,” said Epperson.
The young Redskins have definitely been battle tested throughout the entire non-district campaign as they have faced the likes of Laredo Alexander, McAllen Memorial, La Joya and Los Fresnos.
On Tuesday night, Donna High faced another brutal challenge in La Joya Palmview.
Throughout the entire first half, the Redskins fought hard against the Lobos and went into the locker room tied at 16.
But the second half was a completely different story as Palmview applied tons of pressure against Redskins while capitalizing on offense.
As a result, Palmview outscored Donna High 30-8 and grabbed a 46-24 win.
“Their defensive pressure caused us to take some bad shots and turn the ball over as well,” said Epperson. “Palmview was able to convert on offense and were scoring points in bunches.”
“This was another tough loss for us and it’s definitely not something we are used to here at Donna. But the one thing about it is these young kids are gaining experience against some great teams and hopefully all of these games will make us better and prepare us for district play.”
