(MISSION) — Coming into the season, the Donna High boys’ soccer team had one thing in mind; to win and make it a success.
So far, the Redskins have gotten off on the right foot.
On Thursday, the Redskins went into the Mission Soccer Tournament ready to take on whatever team they had to face. The tournament wasn’t going to be easy because there were 36 teams participating and the Redskins were in a tough bracket along with Mission Veterans, PSJA Southwest, Los Fresnos, Nikki Rowe, and Laredo Alexander.
The first team the Redskins took on was one of the host school’s Mission Veterans. The Redskins didn’t let that intimidate them and went on to defeat Vets 2-0 thanks to goals scored by Gio Coronado and Miguel Gomez.
On the second game of the day, the Redskins took on Los Fresnos and tied the game 1-1 thanks to a goal scored by Jose Rangel. Since the games cannot end in a tie, Los Fresnos and the Redskins went into penalties and managed to come out victorious.
Overall, day one was a successful one for the Redskins and now they are looking forward to day two on Friday where they will take on Nikki Rowe, PSJA Southwest and Laredo Alexander.
