(EDCOUCH) – After the completion of Friday night’s contest against Edcouch-Elsa, Donna head boys basketball coach Manuel Epperson made sure to have his team take a picture with coach Robert Capello.

Capello, who recently picked up his 1,000th career win, officially coached in the last game of his career on Friday night against Donna High.

Both teams played very hard and definitely left everything on the basketball court.

When all was said and done, the Jackets walked off with the win 90-76.

Epperson said he was honored to be able to coach against Capello and felt his team went out ant put together one of their best performances of the season.

“It was truly an honor to share the court with a living legend on Friday night,” said Epperson. “Coach Capello has done so much in his illustrious career and will go down as one of the greatest to ever be a part of the game.”

“My kids came out and played the Jackets tough and it was definitely a game that will be remembered. And even though we lost the game, I couldn’t be prouder of my guys. They fought hard and played with a ton of heart tonight and that’s all I can ask for out of them. This was one of our best performances tonight and we are really turning the corner.”

Anthony Moreno had an incredible outing for Donna High as he poured in a season high 30 points.
