(DONNA) – After losing three straight district games, the Donna Bravettes basketball team came together to remind themselves and the younger girls of what happened last season.
“The seniors brought the team together and talked about how the playoffs slipped out of our hands last season due to a late season slump and they didn’t want that to happen again,” said Donna High head girls coach Kevin Kromer. “They wanted to find a way to overcome that three-game losing streak and dug deep to try and turn things around.”
The Bravettes were able to do that on Friday after defeating Edcouch-Elsa and followed that up by defeating Brownsville Lopez on Tuesday for their second straight win.
Donna High controlled the game from the get go and continued to open up the lead more and more as it went on.
Each and every girl on the team was able to score for Donna High which was something that pleased Kromer.
“Tonight was a true definition of an overall effort and I am so proud of the kids and the way they played,” said Kromer. “Each and every girl played hard tonight and we did some great things on both sides of the ball. It’s good to see them get back into the win column and hopefully we can add to it.”
Donna High improves to 6-4 in District 32-5A and will now prepare for Brownsville Porter on Friday.
