(PHARR) – Ever since transferring to Donna High, Jennifer Garcia has been quite the tennis player.
She has made her name known all over the Valley and has the record and accolades to prove it.
Besides all of that, Garcia has done a lot of firsts while competing in the sport like winning district titles and being named MVP as well.
Garcia added another first to her impressive resume as she and Josue Soto were matched up to play mixed doubles as the season was drawing near.
They competed in mixed doubles for the very first time at the PSJA Varsity Tennis Tournament on January 13th and 14th and wouldn’t you know it, they made quite the splash as they advanced to the finals.
And even though they lost in the final game to Sharyland High, Donna head coach Ramiro Solis was very proud of his duo.
“This is the first time they play together in a mixed doubles draw and had a very strong result by reaching their first final,” said Solis. “They blew through the field by playing three matches while getting to the finals.”
Then they lost two games by scores of 6-1 and 6-3 to Sharyland’s number one mixed doubles team. For their first time competing together I was very impressed with their play.”
One other mixed doubles team made some noise for Donna High as Diana Martinez and Angel Rodriguez made it to the quarterfinals and eventually lost to the number one seed team from Sharyland High.
