(EDINBURG) – Ever since spring tennis play started up, Donna High has been running into “Mother Nature” quite a bit.
“Every Friday, the weather has been horrible to us,” said Donna High head coach Ramiro Solis. “And yet again we played this past Friday in windy and cold conditions at the Edinburg Tournament.”
“But we’ve played strong against very tough fields and have been able to do pretty well.”
At the Edinburg High Varsity Tennis Tournament, Donna High had a few of their players fight through the adverse conditions and ended up going home with some gold around their necks.
Senior Diana Martinez and junior Angel Rodriguez won the Varsity Mixed Doubles Consolation Draw over Nayeli Belmares and Ezequiel Gonzalez.
Also making some serious noise was junior Perla De Leon and senior Caitlin Valerio as the duo took first place in the Varsity Mixed Doubles Girls Consolation Draw.
One more Varsity Mixed Doubles team finished strong as junior Jennifer Garcia and senior Josue Soto took third place.
“I am very pleased with the way our kids played and they represented Donna High really well,” said Solis.
