(ALICE) – When looking at the Class 5A Bi-District Girls Basketball Match-Up between Donna High and Laredo Cigarroa, there’s no question who is the favorite.
Laredo Cigarroa enters this contest ranked 18th in the state according to the Texas Girls Association Poll and the number one seed in District 31-5A after winning the district title.
Also, Cigarroa comes into the playoffs hot as a pistol as they went 27-7 overall and are currently riding an 11-game win streak.
As for Donna High, they enter this contest at 17-17 and punched their ticket to the postseason by securing the fourth spot in District 32-5A. They went 9-5 in 32-5A and want to get back on track after dropping their final two games of the season.
And while Bravettes head coach Kevin Kromer knows that the cards are indeed stacked against his team, he said the girls are planning to go out and play their hearts out.
“There’s no question as to who’s the favorite going into this game,” said Kromer. “Cigarroa is state ranked and won their district as well. Not to mention Cigarroa loves to run the floor and has two girls that are very good players.”
“And even though we are huge underdogs coming into this match-up, our goal is to go out and play hard. We have put together a game plan that we are happy with and the girls are excited about going out and representing Donna High.”
Both teams will battle it out on Tuesday night in Alice with game time set for 8 p.m.
