(DONNA) – The Donna High Track and Field Team officially got their season started on Saturday morning.
And for hitting the track for the first time in 2017, they made quite the splash on the boys and girls side by taking home nine medals on the day.
The boys’ had an amazing meet as out of the nine medals, they were able to secure eight of them.
Cosme Ibarra was the leading medal winner for the Redskins by winning gold in the 400-Meter Dash with a time of 52.28.
The Redskins 4 x 100-Meter Relay Team also added a gold medal to the cause as they won the race with a time of 44.81.
In fact, all three Relay teams won medals as the 4 x 200 and the 4 x 400-Meter Relay squads took third place.
Erick Nava was fortunate to win two medals on the day by placing second in both the High Jump and the Long Jump.
Francisco Morales and Robert Aguilar were the final two Donna High boys to add to the medal count as they placed third in the 800-Meter Run and the 100-Meter Dash respectively.
The final medal of the day went on the girls’ side as Yvonne Sanchez won the silver medal in the 400-Meter Dash.
