Donna High Holds off Late Rally by Roma to Preserve Win

(ROMA) – No matter the circumstances, the Donna High baseball team can say they came home with a hard fought win.

After being involved in a see-saw battle throughout the entire contest, Donna High was able hold off a late rally by Roma and escaped with a 12-11 win in both team’s season opener.

The Gladiators went into the seventh inning down by three runs and fought hard to try and capture a win on their home field. They scored two runs right off the bat to cut the lead to 12-11 and did it with no outs on the board.

But the Redskins were able to record three strikeouts in a row which ended any chance of Roma stealing a win.

Donna High starts the season a 1-0 and will now compete in the Port Isabel Tournament which begins this Thursday.
