(DONNA) – As tight as the District 32-5A playoff race is in girls soccer, each and every team knows that wins are a must from here on out.
Such was the case for both Brownsville Lopez and Donna High as they are fighting for something in district.
The Lady Lobos currently lead the district with an 8-1 record and 23 points while the Bravettes are fighting to keep their postseason hopes alive at 4-5 and have 12 total points in the standings.
Both teams played lights out as neither of them was able to completely pull away.
But once the battle was over, Lopez was the one who gained the most thanks to a 2-1 win.
Lamar Lopez was the Bravette player who scored the lone goal for her team on the night.
With the win, Lopez pushed their record to 9-1 and has 26 total points in the standings.
As for the Bravettes, they fall to 4-6 and remain with 12 points.
Donna High needs a win over Porter on Friday to keep their slim playoff hopes alive and will settle the score at Porter at 7:30 p.m.
