(DONNA) – Even though the Donna High Redskins lost to Donna North in a heart breaker on Tuesday night, they still control their playoff fate.
The Redskins, who held on to a 1-0 lead throughout the majority of the contest, suffered a 2-1 loss in PK’s at Bennie LaPrade Stadium.
And even though the Redskins fell to the Chiefs, they still remain in the fourth spot in District 32-5A with 17 points.
“Even though we lost to Donna North tonight, we still hold a one-point lead over them in the standings,” said Donna High head soccer coach Mario Hernandez. “But now things are going to get even tougher for us as we need to win out to hang onto the fourth spot.”
“This was a tough loss for us and you have to give credit to Donna North. We had a good game plan tonight and I feel we executed it well. But Donna North made the most of an opportunity late in the game and then won it in PK’s. Now we need to shift our focus to the next game which is another tough one against Pace as they are also in the race. I told the kids after tonight that we need to treat the Pace game like it’s a playoff game.”
The Redskins will host Pace on Friday night with game time set for 5:30 p.m.
