(DONNA) – Melanie Arenas was a dominating force on the volleyball court for Donna High and it was backed up when she was awarded a ton of accolades at the end of the season.
Her strength in volleyball was on the offensive side as she piled up the points for the Bravettes night in and night out.
Arenas brought that intensity to the basketball court and made her presence known in each and every game.
The only difference from volleyball was that she was more of a defensive presence in basketball and the opposing coaches were so impressed with her play that they awarded her with two All-District selections.
Arenas was named to the First Team All-Defensive Team and was also a First Team All-District pick as the prestigious list was officially released last week.
Four of her teammates joined her on the list as Miranda Sandoval was a Second Team pick while Brianna Quesada, Aileen Garza and Alex Cantu made it as Honorable Mention selections.
The Bravettes finished the regular season at 9-5 and in fourth place in District 32-5A.
