(SAN ANTONIO) – Sophomore Jonathan Del Bosque was heading into unfamiliar territory on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Donna High golfer was preparing to compete in his first ever Regional Tournament and knew that the task wasn’t going to be an easy one.
However, the sophomore devised a plan which he felt would help make the inaugural trip a little easier.
“I am just going to go in there and play my game,” said Del Bosque.
Del Bosque got a taste of what it was like to compete against the best in the region and ended up shooting a two-day total of 194 at the Region IV-5A Golf Tournament which was held at the Golf Club of Texas.
On Wednesday, Del Bosque shot a 96 which put him in a tie for 65th place.
Then on Thursday, the Redskin shot a 98 and ended up finishing the day in 75th place.
When all was said and done, Del Bosque finished the tournament in a tie for 71st place.
Despite his finish, the youngster had a stellar season and has already etched him name in school history by becoming the first Donna High golfer to advance to regionals in the last 10 years.
And with two years left in the program, Del Bosque will continue to make some more noise and should fare much better next year now knowing what it takes to compete at a higher level.
