(DONNA) – Donna High sophomore Jonathan Del Bosque burst onto the scene this year in the sport of golf and made a huge impact.
Del Bosque became one of the top golfers in District 32-5A and placed very well in all of the tournaments he played in.
Once the district meet rolled around, the Redskins sensation was playing his golf and showed it as he qualified for regionals thanks to his 8th place finish.
Del Bosque became the first Donna High golfer in 10 years to advance to regionals and ended up placing 71st overall in his first trip.
Del Bosque’s accomplishments for the year were definitely noticed as he was named to the All-District list as a Second Team selection.
For the season, Del Bosque shot an average of 92.89 which made him the 10th best golfer in District 32-5A.
Two other members of the Redskins made the list as Alexis Mendoza (97.56) and Esteban Lopez (102.78) made the prestigious list as they were both Second Team selections on the All-District team.
“Jonathan got some valuable experience by going to regionals this year and it will definitely help him going into his junior year,” said Donna High head golf coach Tim Garate. “He is one of a ton of underclassmen that really came on as the season progressed and we are expecting big things from them next year.”
“For three of my guys to get All-District selections is huge and it just goes to show that all of their hard work has paid off.”
